In conjunction with a number of partners, the City of Terrace will be offering children a circus training camp this spring.
The camp is to be called Circus Northwest and will take place over a five-day period at the Caledonia Senior Secondary gym April 4-8.
According to Jennifer Alexander, one of the event organizers, youths will be given a chance to learn juggling, clowning, trapeze, acrobatics, tightrope walking and unicycle riding.
Training will come from three instructors from Green Fools Theater group based out of Calgary, A.B.
At the end of the camp there will be a final performance by participants for the community.
The camp costs $30 per child and is available to youths nine and older, or seven and older with a parent volunteer.
Alexander hopes the camp will result in children being able to perform at additional events around the community.
“It is a real opportunity for youth to get involved in the community,” she said.
Alexander got the idea for the circus camp after hosting a similar event in Chetwynd.
