The 100 Mile & District Minor Hockey Association Coaches team squeaked out a 7-5 victory in a charity game with the Mayvin Midget Rep Milers on Jan. 2.

The event, held at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre, raised close to $400 and brought in a couple of boxes full of non-perishable food items for the 100 Mile House Food Bank Society.

The fast-paced game “gassed out a few of the coaches,” says Milers team manager Kersti Foote.

“It was a good battle and it wasn’t easy.”

Winner of the airplane toss contest was Greg Edle who pocketed $65 in prize money. The throw for first place was a close one and had to be measured off before a decision was made.

Foote says there were lots of laughs throughout the game.

“It was pretty light out there. We’ll definitely do it again near the end of the season.”
