The Vernon Vipers of the B.C. Hockey League are looking for a new  trainer/equipment manager.

Gord (Hoon) Cochran has taken a job as the assistant trainer with the Regina Pats of the WHL.

Cochran, a native of Williams Lake, joined the Vipers in 2009.

“Hoon has been one of the hardest workers in our organization over the past five years,” said Viper head coach/GM Jason Williamson.

“He did a terrific job taking care of the players and it was an area within the organization that I never had to worry about.

“He will be very tough to replace but this is a great opportunity for him to move on and pursue a dream of someday working in the NHL. We would like to thank him for everything he has done for our organization.”

Said Cochran: “I would like to thank Duncan Wray, Jason Williamson, Lon Fraser, Gavin Smart, Todd Miller, Dave Robinson, Mark Ferner, the rest of the Vipers staff, and all the players for making my time here in Vernon very special.

“It has given me the opportunity to further my career and I will be always grateful for this.”

The Vipers open their main training camp Monday, Aug. 25 at Kal Tire Place and open the regular season Sept. 16 in Chilliwack.
