The Garth Gartner Construction Ice Cold Pitches defended their Women’s Slo-Pitch League championship Wednesday night at Kin Park.
The Whitehouse Mortgage Gators needed to knock off the Pitches twice to win the double-knock out tourney. They made things interesting with a 10-4 win in Game 1.
Jody Swartz was perfect 4-for-4 at the dish.
Melissa Locke went 3-for-4 with an RBI, Kate Carter and Michelle Embleton went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Cortnay Solmes cranked a bases-loaded triple for the Gators.
The Pitches wrangled the Gators 16-4 in the deciding game.
Taylor Weixl recorded the championship-clinching RBI and Krista Horton was dealing on the mound in the mercy.
The Pitches pulled ahead with an eight-run run inning and never looked back.
Earlier this season, the Pitches belted their way to top spot at a women’s D Provincial Championship slo-pitch qualifying tournament in Abbotsford. Garth Gartner and Braden Robertson are coaches.
