The Ice Cold Pitches claimed the Vernon Women’s Slo-Pitch League pennant by stopping the Whitehouse Mortgage Gators 18-7 Wednesday night at Kin Park.
The Pitches (8-0) got 4-for-4 showings from Brittany Housego, Tracy Bell and Krista Horton, while Jenn Gartner added three hits in four at bats.
Great defence was turned in by the entire Cold Pitches’ lineup. Krista Horton received the season MVP for the Pitches.
Jennifer Doyle went drove in two runs on three hits and Taryn Robertson was 3-for-3 with one ribbie for the second-place Gators (5-3). Kate Carter was 2-for-2 with one RBI.
In first-round playoff action Wednesday night, the Gators recovered and outlasted Dave’s Mobile Mechanic Devils 16-12.
Robertson and Michelle Embleton were both 3-for-3 with three RBI to spark the Gators. Tiffany Disher knocked in two runs on three hits, while Tanya Saddleman-Joe, Melissa Locke and Kelly Jenner each supplied two hits and two ribbies. Lynn Gregoire was 3-for-3.
The Dynamite stopped the Dozers (no score reported) in the other playoff tilt.
The Nitros face the Ice Cold Pitches and the Dozers face the Devils next Wednesday night in the double-knockout format.
