At the University of Victoria’s Wallace Field, the UVic Norsemen men’s rugby squad hits the turf at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, hosting Burnaby Lake Div. 1, while the premier teams kick-off at 2:45 p.m.

At Oak Bay’s Windsor Park, the Castaway Wanderers premier women welcome Simon Fraser University Highland with an 11:30 a.m. kick-off. The premier men follow hosting the Vancouver Rowers at 2:45 p.m.

The University of Victoria men’s and women’s soccer teams host the Keg Spring Cup March 19 and 20 at Centennial Stadium. Following a 12 p.m. University of B.C.-Fraser Valley match-up Saturday, March 19, the UVic men play the University of Alberta at Centennial Stadium at 4 p.m. The men’s consolation game goes Sunday, March 20 at 12 p.m. at Centennial Stadium with the men’s final at 4 p.m. at Centennial Stadium.

On the women’s side, UBC opens play against Trinity Western at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 19 while the Vikes women play the University of Alberta at 2 p.m. at Centennial Stadium. The women’s consolation game is at 10 a.m. at Centennial Stadium with the women’s final at 2 p.m.

Looking ahead in UVic events, the UVic Rowers gear up this week for the Brown Cup, Saturday, March 26 at Elk Lake, while March 30 is the Celebration of Champions and UVic Sports Hall of Fame.

The UVic Alumni soccer team plays in the semifinals of the 2016 Grover Cup against the Saanich Fusion Soccer Club Old School team on Friday, March 18 at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Turf.

Following two doubleheaders on the Mainland against White Rock, the Oak Bay-based Victoria Mariners are back on the Island, heading to Nanaimo on Saturday, March 19 to continue preseason play. The M’s junior and premier squads hit the diamond Friday, March 25 in the third annual spring break friendly tourney hosted by the Victoria Eagles at Lambrick Park, through March 27.

The Mariners’ junior premier team opens play at 9:30 a.m., taking on the Eagles Midget AAA, before facing the Eagles’ junior premier squad at noon. The Premier Mariners have an afternoon double-header, facing the Premier Eagles at 2:30 and Calgary Blues at 5 p.m.

On the ice, the Victoria Cougars host the Cyclone Taylor Cup, a four-team, round-robin tournament April 7 to 10. Eight-game tournament passes and single game tickets are available from Gary Boyer at 250-686-7709 or cougarpres@gmail.com.
