The Comox Valley Cycle Club is hosting its 30th anniversary season opener group ride on Saturday, April 16.
Beginners and advanced riders are welcome. There will be a barbecue and door prizes to follow. A free bicycle check will be given by Trail Bicycles.
A $10 fee will be collected and donated towards the Comox Valley Athletic Association. Helmets and road bikes are mandatory.
For more information find the CVCC on Facebook or online at comoxvalleycycleclub.ca.
The bike check will be held from 9:30-10 a.m. followed by the group ride from 10-11 a.m. Then it will the barbecue (hot dogs and hamburgers) and awarding of door prizes.
It all happens at the corner of Tsolum River and Nelson roads.
“This is not a race,” notes CVCC president Daniel Wilson. “It is a fun ride with the chance to win prizes.” The event goes rain or shine and Wilson notes the roads will be open to traffic.
Those under 18 must have a parent fill out a release liability waiver (unless there is proof of Cycling BC insurance).
CVCC registration will be available at the event.
