The Comox Valley Glacier Kings and Oceanside Generals split a home and home matchup on the weekend.
The Yetis won 5-2 Saturday at the Comox Valley Sports Centre, and Oceanside won 5-4 Sunday in Parksville.
Oceanside was up 1-0 after the first period Saturday before Comox Valley struck back with three goals in the second, and two more in the third. Khale Skinner notched a hat-trick for the home side, with singles coming from Carson Steel and captain Damian Rennie. Goalie Jordan Wilde made 21 saves.
In Sunday’s game, Oceanside was up 2-0 after one. Liam Schreiber scored for the Yetis in the second, but the Generals answered with two more goals. Rennie closed the gap with a tally near the end of the period. Caileb Berge put the Glacier Kings within one early in the third, but Oceanside responded in the middle of the frame. Austin Montgomery-Parsons scored for the Kings with less than a minute to play. Wilde made 32 saves.
The 4-5-1-0 Glacier Kings are in third place in the VIJHL North Division. The 6-3-1-0 Generals are second.
