The Comox Valley Raiders started their midget football season with a bang.
On a beautiful sunny day, they took on a Richmond team that was outmatched physically by the local squad.
The Raiders dominated every aspect of the contest, in a 36-8 victory.
The tone of the game was set on the first play by Cale Hart, who took advantage of a short kickoff and powered the ball up field for an impressive gain.
The Raiders dominated the ground game, compiling more than 400 rushing yards in the contest.
Thomas Foge had an outstanding game. He impressed the fans with a great combination of agility and power that Richmond wasn’t equipped to deal with.
Rushing touchdowns were scored by Thomas Foge, Justin Shepard and Jesse Dyble.
Quarterback Ethan Lloyd also played well, connecting with team captain Levi Pederson for a touchdown, and the kicking team successfully converted all four touchdowns.

Defensive linemen Angus Frayn and Cedar Frank controlled the line of scrimmage, playing with a relentless aggression. Lucas Fanslau backed them up with outstanding linebacker play, dealing out several bruising hits.
Coaches said overall this was an impressive win for the Raiders, who are looking tough to start the year.
