Should you join a running club?

Have you ever thought, ‘I’d like to be a runner but.’ If so, consider joining a running club.

If you have been running alone and are tired of the same old route, consider joining a running club.

If you’re a runner who just can’t seem to improve your time, consider joining a running club.

If you’re a runner who is new to the Comox Valley, consider joining a running club.

If you’re a runner who would like to mentor new runners, consider joining a running club.

Running appeals to people for a variety of reasons. Some of us want to improve our fitness, some of us love the challenge of competition.

Whatever inspires you, running with others can help you to reach that goal.

If you watch a local road race, you will see club runners at the front, the back and everywhere in between. You will also see them cheer for everyone, from the elite runners to the recreational runners. There is an appealing camaraderie of fellowship and support.

In any given week, you will notice groups of runners on roads and trails, talking and laughing as they run. There is a large welcoming community of runners in the Comox Valley.

Joining a club can sweeten the experience of being a runner through motivation or competition. It’s a “no pressure” alternative to running alone.

Interested? The Comox Valley Road Runners are holding an open house at the Filberg Centre from 9-11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24.
