Old Man Winter (or his better half, Mother Nature) did what their last three opponents could not – cool off red-hot Comox Valley United.
The local Vancouver Island Soccer League Div. 1 men’s match Saturday, Nov. 29 against Castaways in Victoria was cancelled due to snow and poor field conditions.
United had two wins and a tie in their three games leading up to their tilt against cellar-dwelling Castaways, and the prospect of more points and a further march up the Div. 1 table was looming large prior to the Nov. 29 cancellation.
Comox Valley will be hoping the elements do not interfere with their next match, as they are scheduled to host Nanaimo United this Saturday, Dec. 6 in a 6 p.m. kickoff at the Vanier Turf Field.
In their first year in Div. 1, Comox Valley is seventh in the 10-team division with a 4-5-3 record. Nanaimo is third with a 7-4-2 record but have been on a roll, going 5-0-1 in their last six games. In their first meeting this season, the two United teams played to a 2-2 draw Oct. 4 in Nanaimo.
