Connor Reilly blogs about the Penticton Vees big win

Connor Reilly gives his take on the Vees win against the Portage Terriers which earned them a spot in the semifinals

We have punched our ticket to the RBC Cup semifinals.

We beat the Portage Terriers 3-1. We had a very good first period overall as we played with speed and had tons of chances, just didn’t capitalize. Portage opened the scoring on a couple of rebounds. Michael Garteig had a game-changing save when the puck was trickling in but he reached back just in time to save it.

We played a pretty good second, but went into the locker room down 1-0. The thought of losing never even entered our minds. We were confident we were going to come out and win. If we didn’t win, our season was over and what a disappointment that would have been. Ryan (Reilly) wrapped the puck around the net and Curtis Loik put in the loose puck to get the ball rolling.  A few minutes later we went on a power play and Logan Johnston scored on a back door pass from Steven Fogarty to put us up 2-1.  Again on the power play, (Travis) St. Denis made a beautiful centering feed to Mikey and Mikey put the puck right under the bar to make it 3-1.

We finished off the game playing like we can play. The third period was Vees hockey. Now we are waiting for our opponent. We will either get the two or three seed depending on how today’s games go.  We have two days off so we may either go to a movie or something like that just to get our minds away from hockey for a little bit.  We made it through the round robin, and the semi’s is when it is really going to matter.

Injured Penticton Vees forward Connor Reilly has been providing Penticton Western News readers with his take on the Vees’ RBC Cup journey.
