The Cowichan U18 Gold girls soccer team finished the season — and for many of the players, their youth soccer careers — with a bang earlier this month by winning the District Cup championship in Victoria, beating Bays United 3-2 in the tournament final on April 3.

Cowichan went up 3-0 in the first half on goals by Gabby Delgado, Denean Jack and Hannah Gallacher. Bays came back with a vengeance in the second half and scored twice, but Cowichan held on for the win.

Gallacher was voted MVP of the team led by coach Greg Poirier.

In addition to Gallacher, Delgado and Jack, the team included Emily and Nicole Lindsay, Kristina Biello, Crystal Brandt, Halle de Valk Zaiss, Jennifer Tudway-Cains, Kaitlyn Hill, Ashley Grant, Emma Knock, Samantha Walker, Brigitte Reid, Ashley Molloy and Kayla Butcher.
