The two-time defending provincial AAA field hockey champion Cowichan Secondary School Thunderbirds unveiled their title banner last Thursday between halves of a senior boys basketball game.
The banner was revealed in its rightful place high on the wall of the school gym, next to the banner earned by the same team a year earlier.
The 2016 Thunderbirds captured this year’s championship with a 1-0 win over the Kelowna Owls in the provincial final in Surrey. This is the second time a Cowichan team has won back-to-back provincial field hockey titles since 2002 and 2003.
