The Cowichan Secondary Thunderbirds’ offence was firing, but the team’s defence wasn’t on the same level as they lost a senior boys basketball exhibition game against Lord Tweedsmuir 93-79 last Friday.

Theo Aeby led the T-Birds with 33 points and Eston Unrau added 18 in the loss.

“They’re a good team,” Cowichan coach Lucky Walia said of the Tweedsmuir Panthers. “You can see how they were previously ranked as high as fourth in B.C. We had some good signs, but we have a few things to work on for our stretch run. Namely, keeping active on defence while we are away from the ball, and winning more loose ball battles.”

The T-Birds  visited Claremont for an exhibition on Thursday evening.
