Cowichan United remains undefeated in Div. 2 of the Vancouver Island Soccer League after picking up two more wins over the last two weeks.
United edged Lakehill 1-0 on Nov. 5 on a goal by Jose Muro, then beat Powell River 4-0 on Nov. 13 on goals by Ryan Andre, Jordan Korven, Jonas Golf-Myers and Stevan Zorich. Darian Achurch earned the clean slates in both games.
At 7-0, United’s 21 points are six more than second-place Westcastle United, who have played eight games. The team visits Vic West Casuals this Saturday.
In Div. 3A, Cowichan Red Arrow returned to the pitch last Saturday after a week off and lost 3-1 to SFFC Boshka. Tim Den Hartigh scored Red Arrow’s lone goal, and Callum Branch was named game MVP. Red Arrow visits Hellas FC this Sunday.
In Masters A, the Cowichan 49ers also remain undefeated and atop their division with five wins and two ties.
The Niners tied Nanaimo 1-1 on Nov. 4 thanks to a goal by Ryan Fusick, and beat Gorge Backfit 4-1 on Nov. 12 with goals by game MVP Darren Meiner, George Thomas, Sebastien Titone and Goran Jandric. The team hosts the CB Red Barn Bobcats at Sherman Road this Saturday at 6 p.m.
In Masters C the Cowichan Steelheads tied Vic West H2X 1-1 on Nov. 5 on a goal by Adam Laurie,while game MVP honours went to Ali Tabrizi. The team beat Castaways Juniors 5-0 on Nov. 12 with goals by Tabrizi, Paul Mycroft, George White, Roy Robinson and Brad Skene. Eric Nelson was named game MVP. The Steelheads visit Prospect Lake this Friday.
In the Lower Island Women’s Soccer Association, the Div. 2 Cowichan Outlaws tied Lakehill Reds 1-1 on Nov. 6 and lost 4-0 to SFFC Cascades on Nov. 13. The Outlaws host Bays this Sunday at noon at Evans Park.
