Coyotes split first four of baseball season

Okanagan College opens CCBC campaign with a 2-2 record at home, head to Kamloops this weekend

The Okanagan College Coyotes raised the curtain on the Canadian College Baseball Conference with a split of four games over the weekend at Elks Stadium.

OC went 1-1 against the Calgary Dinos and 1-1 against the Prairie Academy Dawgs.

In Friday night’s opener, OC lost to the Dinos 9-1. Starter Marcus Drewry has a tough outing, yielding eight runs in just 3 1/3 innings.

On Saturday, the ‘Yotes rebounded with a 7-2 win over Calgary.

Brennan Reidy went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, while Jared Frew had three hits and scored three runs.

Joel Lamont scattered eight hits over five innings for the win, while Jason Merz pitched two innings of hitless relief.

On Saturday night, the Prairie Academy Dawgs slid past the Coyotes 5-4. Braden Heyland had three hits in the loss.

On Sunday, the Coyotes finished strong with a 3-2 win over PBA.

Reidy drove in Davis Todosichuk with the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

Cole Parusinni tossed a complete-game four hitter for the victory.

This weekend, the Coyotes head to Kamloops for four games—two against the host TRU Wolfpack and two against the Dinos.
