A 7-4 win over the Summerland Steam on the road has given the Osoyoos Coyotes a 2-1 lead in their Kootenay International Junior Hockey League series.
Judd Repole put the Coyotes up 5-2 at 12:41 of the second period and his goal was the eventual winner on Tuesday at the Summerland Arena.
Coyotes goalie Stephen Heslop finished with 21 saves, while Daniel Stone led with two goals and added an assist. Coyotes captain Rainer Glimpel put up a goal and two assists. Drew Carter, Bobby LaRue and Colton Rhodes had two assists. Also scoring were Reid Wilson, Hunter Johnson and Carter Shannon.
The Steam pulled starting goalie Matthew Kostiw, who allowed five goals on nine shots in 27 minutes, 19 seconds of action. Matthew Huber made eight saves on 10 shots in 32 minutes.
Calvin Hadley put the home side up 1-0 two minutes into the game on a play created by Josh Pilon and Cole Williams. Also scoring for the Steam was Pilon with two and Andrew York. Williams and Braden Eliuk led with two assists.
The attendance was 235. Game 4 is tonight at the Summerland Arena at 7:30 p.m.
In other KIJHL playoff action, the Kimberley Dynamiters have a 3-0 series lead on the Creston Valley Thunder Cats, while the Beaver Valley Nitehawks have a 3-0 series lead on the Grand Forks Border Bruins. The 100 Mile House Wranglers have a 3-1 series lead on the Chase Heat.
