Creston skating club ready for annual show, ‘Once Upon A Dream’

Over 60 skaters working on special routines for ice show running March 7 at John Bucyk Arena...

It’s that time of year again — the Creston Valley Figure Skating Club is about to wrap up another season of skating lessons for kids and adults of all ages, and they can’t wait to show you what they can do.

Youngsters who could barely stay on their feet in October are now zooming all over the place.

“You’d hardly know they hit the ice for the first time last fall,” says head coach Fairlite Rogers. “They’re skating with speed, going backwards, even doing little hops and jumps. All our skaters have been working really hard again this year.”

Skaters with a year or two or experience are progressing to higher levels, learning new skills and moves every day, and StarSkaters — those at the highest levels in the club — have been passing tests and winning competitions all season long.

Now, the club’s 60-plus skaters are hard at work at special routines to show off all their best moves, and you can see them on March 7 when the club presents its annual ice show, “Once Upon a Dream.”

The performance starts at 3 p.m. at John Bucyk Arena. Admission is $5 for adults and $15 for a family.
