Prince Charles Secondary School graduate Gord Perrin has been named to the Canada men’s volleyball team, which will play at the 2015 Pan American Games. Perrin, son of well-known Creston author Dave Perrin, has previously played for Canada, as well as the Volleyball World League’s televised championships last year.

Powerful hitter Gavin Schmitt, the Canadian Press reported, will lead the men’s team, and the women’s team will be led by Shanice Marcelle, who won the Canadian Interuniversity Sport female athlete of the year award in 2013 during her time with the University of BC Thunderbirds.

The volleyball competition will take place in Toronto, Ont., with the women competing July 16-25 and the men competing July 17-26.
