Oak Bay’s Windsor Park will be hopping with cricket action this weekend

Oak Bay’s Windsor Park will be hopping with cricket action this weekend. The  Victoria and District Cricket League hosts two local games starting with Oak Bay hosting the University team at Windsor Park at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Incogs take on Metchosin at St Michaels University School, also at 12:30 p.m.

Oak Bay’s Victoria Mariners Junior Premier team is hosting a bottle drive from 10 a.m. to until 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20. Anyone is welcome to drop off bottles to help support the long Junior Premier season. For more information about the bottle drive, visit online at victoriamariners.com

The Senior Mariners take to the field with a double-header Sunday against a strong Langley Blaze team. The games begin at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Henderson Park.

The Victoria Premier Eagles are out of town all weekend, however, they’ll play one game June 23 against cross-town rivals the Henderson Park-based Victoria Mariners. The game takes place at Lambrick Park at 6 p.m.

As for the Eagles Midget AAA boys, they host Kamloops on Saturday, and Tri-City the following day.  First pitch will be 11 a.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. Sunday.

The Eagles two Carnarvon-based bantam teams will also be in action this weekend, facing each other on Saturday at Carnarvon before the Black Eagles travel over to Surrey the next day for two games.

Finally, in Midget AA baseball action Carnarvon will take on Gordon Head in semi-final action this Saturday at 12 p.m. As a playoff game, play will happen in Sidney at Rotary field.

The annual Father’s Day Walk/Run For Prostate Cancer is coming up this weekend. A B.C.-wide run held in many cities around the province, the run aims to raise money for cure, research and to create awareness of the disease. There are four different categories to enter, including a 5km walk or run, and a 10km run. The run starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Vancouver Island Technology Park. The Victoria Horseshoe Club is hosting an open house on June 26 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Come see what the sport is all about and try your hand at the game of horseshoes. Games will be on hand for many different age groups. Every Wednesday, the club hosts a senior men’s drop-in starting at 10 a.m. The regular men’s league runs Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning at 7 p.m. and the ladies league is Wednesdays also at 7 p.m. A junior league for younger people who are interested in horseshoes plays Mondays at 7 p.m.
