Cross-country program becoming a force on the provincial stage

The Salmon Arm Secondary Junior Girls cross-country running team is seeing silver after their second place finish at the annual B.C. School Sports cross-country running championships at Telemark on Nov. 5.

Chantel Jeffrey ran to a ninth-place finish on the gruelling 4.5-kilometre course in West Kelowna.

Rounding out the junior girls’ impressive performance was Rachel Bates, Kate Milne, and Teagan Findlay, who all finished in the top half of the 129 runner field.

The Shuswap Middle School Junior Girls also ran in the provincial event and placed sixth overall. Phoebe Barnes led the way, placing 15th overall for junior girls, followed by her teammates Lys Milne, Meagan Kujat, Sophia Van Varseveld and Claire Van Bergeyk.
