The Quesnel M. Daniels Consulting Crossfire went into Prince George with a short bench to face the Westwood Pub Devils on May 8.
The Crossfire have been shorthanded in the past couple of weeks due to the shutdown of Cariboo Pulp &Paper in Quesnel.
Unfortunately, the Quesnel squad was defeated 13-4 score.
The Crossfire was only down 4-2 at the end of the first period, with goals from Hunter McSeveney and Duncan Johnson.
They were on the wrong side of a 10-3 score at the end of 40 minutes, with a marker from Bryston Waffle.
Midway through the second period, folks at Kin Arena got to experience some fireworks, as Devil player Olen Erickson got into a fight with Chase Ballendine and then went ballistic.
Ballendine was penalized two minutes for a face mask infraction and five for fighting.
Erickson was thrown out of the game with five minutes for fighting, 10 minutes for a game misconduct, five for instigating, 10 for a game misconduct, five for face masking, and three 10-minute game misconducts.
Erickson, who had a goal and an assist up to that point, was slapped with 65 of his team’s 78 penalty minutes.
The Crossfire was outscored 3-1 in the third period, with McSeveney getting his second goal.
Levi Robertson made 38 stops in the Quesnel net.
The Crossfire hosted the Stylers from Prince George on May 11, but the score was not available at presstime.
There next home game is on May 25 when they take on the Bandits from Prince George. The game will be held in Rink 2, starting a 8 p.m.
