Curler Morris gets second chance at Martin

John Morris of Vernon-Kelowna will get a second chance at Edmonton’s Kevin Martin in the Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings.

John Morris of Vernon-Kelowna will get a second chance at Edmonton’s Kevin Martin in the Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg.

Morris, who has Vernon’s Jim Cotter throwing fourth rocks and a front end of Tyrel Griffith and Rick Sawatsky, lost 7-6 to Martin Friday morning in the final round-robin draw of the Olympic curling trials. The same two rinks play in Saturday’s semifnal at 11:30 PDT.

Morris finished third at 4-3, while Martin was second at 6-1. Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie moved directly to Sunday’s final at 7-0.

The Okanagan rink brushed back Toronto’s John Epping 7-6 Thursday night.
