The ladies take centre stage this week, as we continue a summary of local curling honours. First off, my thanks to Nanaimo Curling Club ladies’ division secretary-treasurer Jessie Whittam for supplying details of the top women’s teams that were recognized at a recent awards night…
From the Monday night ladies’ league, first place in the round-robin portion of the season was claimed by skip Nicole Backe and her teammates Angela Wood, Janelle Erwin and Helene Delisle. Smith, together with Diana Johnstone, Eleanor Voysey, Diana Baker, Tanis Wilson and Andrea Trepanier, finished first in the round-robin portion of the season, first in the subsequent A square competition, and thereby captured the Thrifty Food Trophy for first in overall aggregate points.

The Island Timberlands Trophy for placing second in aggregate standings went to the entry of Heather Lindsay-Lecuyer, Carolle MacIntosh, Glynis Davis, Sharon Wright and Barb Cox. The Lindsay-Lecuyer team also took first place in B square competition, with second place earned by Ruth Thorpe, Pat Johnson, Naomi Adams and Joan Hall.
