CVBA Opening Day set for Monday at Aspen Park in Comox

Opening Day for the Comox Valley Baseball Association this year is Monday, April 17 when the Mosquitoes take to the field at Aspen Park in Comox.

The PeeWees open on Tuesday, also at Aspen Park.  The Rookies and below have moved to Highland Park this season due to work being completed on the Comox Rec renovations.

The older players will again play at Bill Moore Park from Monday to Thursdays. This won’t begin until after May 1 due to field repairs at Bill Moore Park. The CVBA is excited at the return of Midget baseball to the Valley.  This 16-18 year old group have not fielded teams for the last couple of years.

Currently, registration for Bantam and Midget is still open as approximatly six or seven more players are required in each age division to field three teams on a consistent basis. There are still a few more spots left in the younger divisions and players can still register at Happy’s Sporting Goods.

A new team has formed this season with the beginning of the PeeWee Development League which plays games on Sundays from April 27 through to June 5. This involves some travel but is available at no extra cost.  Players will be expected to participate in development practices on Saturdays in order to play.

Friday nights are now scheduled develoment practices for Mosquito and second-year Rookies if they so choose. Costs are free and it is held at Aspen Park, beginning April 22l.

The CVBA will be attempting to field Cardinals Rep summer clubs at all divisions if possible. Interested coaches should fill out the Rep coaching application forms located online at www.cvba.ca. They should then be forwarded to the Rep director as directed.
