The 1998 Comox Valley United Soccer Club Select Girls recently finished their final season of organized youth soccer.
For the past five seasons they have greatly benefitted from the financial support contributed by Sea Roamer Marine Services. This sponsorship provided improved equipment (higher quality training balls and portable goals), travel opportunities (tournaments in the Lower Mainland, Kamloops and Seattle) and team bonding experiences (paintball, whitewater rafting, and zip lining).
This particular group of girls also received a great deal of support from Comox Valley RV; including a fantastic new canopy to keep the girls dry on rainy days. The support from both companies allowed the girls to focus their efforts on training rather than fundraising and, in some cases, provided necessary financial support for individual players.
For their final team event, the girls attended the annual Kamloops Slurpee Cup Tournament on the Victoria Day weekend. They finished on a high note, taking home first place medals in the Gold Division. Coaches Mike Oldale and Dave Calow said it’s been an honour to lead this group of exceptional athletes and young ladies these past five years and they wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
