The Crew earned a bye into Friday night’s Cowichan Women’s Football League final, while the Sirens and Ravens set up a meeting in Wednesday’s semis as the league held quarterfinals last Sunday.
Wilhelmina Toews had two touchdowns as the Crew defeated the Wild 33-13. Janelle Mould, Jess Lines-Wikkerink and Nicole Pugh also scored. Pugh had two converts and Lines-Wikkerink added one, and Jackie Harrison recorded an interception. Dieneke Pedersen and Keri McKelvie had touchdowns for the Wild, Rhiannon Kemmler had a convert and an interception, and Erica Dow recorded a sack.
The Sirens got two touchdowns each from Christine Switzer and Shelly Hodgins as they downed Moo’s Law 36-24. Jodi Buttle also scored, and Hodgins had one single-point and one two-point convert, while Tara McCaffery had a rouge. On defence, Buttle had two sacks, and McCaffery and Claudette Crisp had interceptions. Responding for the Law, Nicki Flynn, Kim Scafe, Rachel Hastings and Tanya Green had touchdowns, Hastings and Leanne Closson had converts, and Wendy Charles had an interception.
Lauren James and Autumn Cooper led the Hindsight Fishing Ravens with two touchdowns apiece in a 47-6 win over the Winter Trucking Storm. Jamie Russell also scored on a pick-six, and Chelsea Strandlund and Rikki Wylie had the other touchdowns. Emily Salmon had two converts, and James, Strandlund and Dana Thorne had one each. On defence, the Ravens got two sacks and an interception from Wylie and a pick and a sack from Strandlund. The Storm’s lone touchdown was scored by Chelsea Morton.
The CWFL regular season ended last Friday with a pair of games as the Crew beat the Law 50-6 and the Sirens edged the Storm 7-6.
Marilou Sullivan was unstoppable for the Crew with three touchdowns, three interceptions and a convert, and Toews had two touchdowns and one pick. Mould had a pick-six, Pugh added a touchdown and a pick, and Redlick also scored, while Roz Campbell had a convert. Charles scored for the Law, Closson had two interceptions, and Toni Williams had one pick.
In the other game, Tien Nguyen had a pick six for the Storm, Hien Tran-Primeau had eight sacks, and Jenn Elliott had an interception.
