Cyclist takes third in Tour de Bloom

Emma Lujan of Penticton place third in Wenatchee’s Tour de Bloom cycling race

Emma Lujan took third in the Tour de Bloom in Wenatchee May 5 to 7.

The stage race consisted of a 90 kilometre road race, a six-km hill climb, a downtown criterium and a 55-km road race. Lujan placed fourth, third, ninth and fourth in the respective stages in a competitive field of 44 women and walked away with a combined time of five hours, 16 minutes, six seconds to finish third. She was 74 seconds down from the winner.

Lujan, 26, cycles for Vancouver’s Glotman Simpson Cycling team and posted the fastest time up the 4.4km climb during the time trial stage of the women’s elite Race the Ridge stage race in Maple Ridge on April 29-30. The stage race consisted of an 80-km road race, a 4.4-km uphill time trial, and a downtown criterium. Lujan placed fifth.
