Although the season hasn’t exactly gone according to plan, it’s not over yet for the Vernon Diamondbacks.
Despite only winning one game in the regular season, the Diamondbacks are still alive in their quest to earn the Bruce Mackenzie Cup as Okanagan Major Baseball League champions.
The playoff tournament goes this weekend in Vernon at Marshall Field. The D-backs will open against the Kelowna Jays at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The Kamloops Sun Devils will tangle with the Jays at 2 p.m. before the D-backs go up against Kamloops at 5 p.m.
“Ryan Boe will get the start for the D-Backs against Kelowna while Peter Ortman is the probable starter against Kamloops,” said Vernon manager Kyle Anderson.
The semifinal (if necessary) and final will take place on Sunday (final scheduled for 1 p.m.).
