Davidson Dynamite hit win column

Davidson Dynamite snap winless streak with 2-1 win over Vernon Camels in North Okanagan Men’s Soccer League play.

Davidson & Co. Dynamite FC snapped their winless streak by stopping Vernon Camels FC 2-1 in North Okanagan Men’s Soccer League play Wednesday night at Marshall Field #2.

Moe Singogo opened the scoring for the Dynamite in the opening minute with a chip shot over the keeper. The Dynamite had a favourable tail wind in the first half, and defended the lead well against the 2-1-1 Camels as the heavy winds shifted once again in Davidson’s favour.

Striker Bas Wongwattanamongkol buried a rocket in off a deflection within the penalty area, widening the lead to 2-0.

The 1-3 Dynamite enjoyed countless chances throughout, but were stymied by red-hot Camels’ keeper Ryan Campbell.

The Camels kept pressing and were rewarded when John Pfaffenrot converted on a free kick from a sharp angle outside of the penalty area with 13 minutes remaining.

Turn-Key Controls brushed back Concept Physio 2-1 at Marshall #3, moving to 4-0 on the season.

Turn-Key opened the scoring midway through the first half when Nolan’s Pharmasave Man of the Match Conan Ackert used his large frame to bury the ball past Concept keeper Chris Harris.

Harris made multiple stops in the half, robbing Preston Tucker on numerous occasions to keep the score 1-0 at the half.

Harris continued to hold up the Controls crew before Marco Arnold converted his own well-earned penalty kick after getting taken down in the box to make it 2-0.

Concept’s Enzo Paal fired a late goal past keeper Jeremy Kler, but the Controllers held on for the win. Concept dropped to 0-3-1.

Monashee Surveying shut down the Salmon Arm Outlaws 3-0 at Marshall #1, going up early on a great ball in from the wing from Mike Arding that was finished by a gorgeous Devon Marriott header.

Moments later, Tyler Johnson and Rodney Goodchild hooked up on a tic-tac-toe play with Goodchild converting on a great strike to round out the first-half scoring.

The wind changed directions in the second half to add a 12th player for the 0-3-1 Outlaws, who pushed several balls over the top but were denied by the switched on Monashee back line.

Rookie Daneil Lutsenko registered his first goal on a strong header off a scramble, to complete the 2-1 Monashee attack. Interior Freight & Bottle Depot Men of the Match went to Shawn Aarsen with big headers in the middle, and defender-turned-keeper Ryan Sharp who picked up his first shutout.

The North Enderby Timber grounded the Nation of Domination Eagle Homes 4-0 at Marshall #5, moving past the Camels into second spot.

The 3-1 Timber took the lead at seven minutes when roadrunner forward Dexter James started a give-and-go with Ross MacDonald through the middle of the pitch and found Alex Farina with a neat through ball. Farina took a couple of touches before sneaking the ball through keeper Levi Deruiter’s legs.

The Timber controlled the offence in the first half, forcing Deruiter to make multiple saves from in close.

Jesse Knight also buried for NET in the first half after poking the ball all the way up the left wing and firing a low cross through the six-yard box that banked off a defender.

NET took it to 3-0 in the 65th minute. A hand ball by the 1-3 Eagle Homes on the sideline 35 yards out set up a free kick for NET. Andy Stein drove a hard cross directly to James driving the back post for a clean header to the top corner.

Sean Lister capped the NET offence by hammering a shot from 25 yards out to the near post. Highlight of the night was produced by NET’s keeper Danny Stein.

With five minutes remaining and his shutout on the line, Stein faced a free kick from 20 yards out. The ball was driven hard, over the NET wall and was bound for the top left corner, but Stein laid out and got a full fist on the ball and punched it away.
