The second day of competition in the BC Soccer Youth Championships is underway today and all six Nelson squads will see action.
In Chilliwack, four Nelson Selects girls squads are fighting for provincial glory.
The U13 Selects improved their record to 1-1 with a 3-1 victory over the Bulkley Valley Rapids.
It was a different story for Nelson’s U14 girls squad. Despite a great effort, the locals fell 1-0 to the Cowichan Valley Chaos. It was a heart-breaking loss as the Selects battled throughout, keeping the match scoreless until the 85th minute.
The loss drops the U14 squad’s record to 0-2.
Nelson’s U15 girls had their hands full, taking on the host Chilliwack Attack. Nelson lost the contest 4-0 giving them an 0-2 record so far.
The U17 team had a solid game, blanking Coastal FC Royal 2-0.
In Richmond, two Nelson Select boys squads are getting ready for their second matches of the tournament.
Coming of a 1-1 tie yesterday, the Nelson U15 squad took on the Penticton Pinnacles FC. The Selects lost the contest 3-0.
The U18 Nelson Selects won their opener, but saw their record fall to 1-1 after losing 3-0 against the CCB Elite squad.
