DBL Timbermen drop opener against Bandits

Nanaimo's senior B lacrosse team fights for its playoff life tonight (Aug. 1) against the Tri-City Bandits.

A best-of-three series doesn’t leave much room for error, so the Nanaimo DBL Timbermen can’t lose any more games.

The city’s senior B lacrosse team lost 12-8 to the Tri-City Bandits in Game 1 of the semifinals Monday in Port Coquitlam.

The visitors led 3-1 after the first period, but early in the second frame the Bandits accused Timbermen goalie Ray Hodgkinson of using illegal equipment. The measurement went against the T-men, the starting goalie got the boot and the Bandits took over.

Russell Thomas and Shane Chalker had two-goal games for Nanaimo and Brent Holness, Kyle Noble, Ryan Dietterle and Jon Diplock also scored.

Game 2 will be played Wednesday (Aug. 1) at 7:30 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena. Game 3, if necessary, won’t be until next Tuesday (Aug. 7) in PoCo.
