Deadlocked in Haney Masters Curlling

Two rinks are deadlocked in first place after 10 games in Haney Masters’ Curling League action.

Terry Gregory and Jim Maitland, who waged a battle for first spot in the fall session, continued their fight as they recorded victories to take a comfortable lead from the rest of the rinks.

Gregory, with third Max Albrechtsen, second Gary Sawatsky and lead Ian Strachan broke a 2-2 tie to drop Greg Hook’s rink 6-3.

Maitland narrowly edged Jack Stadel 6-5 to keep pace with Gregory.

Stadel came up short on his final draw attempt after Chris Martin, Arnie Melissen and William Menkveld put him in position to tie the game.

In other action, Renato Camporese’s rink of Svend Neilsen, Bob Wade and Eric Holler took an 8-7 victory over Bill Gardner.

Gardner, along with Chuck Lilley, Albert Stimpson and Ernie Westmacott came back to tie, only to see Camporese sneak the win on his last rock.
