Spring is well upon us and the 2016 riding season is here.
The Dirty Knobby 2016 is almost here, too, coming up Saturday, June 11 in the Bull Mountain area.
As always, the longrunning event is hosted by the Williams Lake Off Road Motorcycle Association’s diligent members.
It is open to all ages and skill levels with trails and fun for everyone.
There will be guided rides on the loops for kids of all ages, and a bike rodeo event, too.
The WLORMA is very excited to unveil its now official recreation area at Bull Mountain.
This has been the result of countless hours of work by the club and Desi Cheverie; our local BC recreation officer.
This has culminated in the creation of a riding area which is tailor made for two-wheel use by off-road motorcycles.
A staging area, signage and marked trails are the key features of all of the hard work. Road upgrades make access to the staging area at five kilometres on the Smokey Mountain FSR. Look for the signage which turns off highway 97 just five kilometres north of the Wildwood store on Bull Mountain Road, turn right after the cattleguard as indicated by some new signage onto Smokey Mountain Road and follow the signs up the hill to the staging area.
Truly easy, “easy” trails, to challenging trails are available for all to enjoy from pee wees to an ‘A,’ ‘B’ and ‘C’ loops for the big guys.
Ton of parking is available at the new location, as well, with lots of room to host the Dirty Knobby.
Signup starts at 9:30 a.m. with a poker ride starting at 11 a.m.

As WLORMA is a non-profit organization they are encouraging anyone interested to join as a member.

They are also encouraging people to purchase a BC Off Road Motorcycle Association Trail Pass online at www.bcorma.ca.
The passes are not required to ride on any specific trails, but rather show an ongoing support to the BCORMA.
BCORMA is the only voice lobbying for the interests of off road bikers in B.C., and the money from the sale of each Trail Pass goes toward ensuring that current and future generations will always have a place to recreate on crown land.
As an added option, the trail pass can be upgraded to a Bronze or Platinum Trail Pass which provides its owner with third party liability insurance, which is legally required in B.C. if anyone plans on using an unlicensed bike on forest service roads. The liability insurance covers riders even off of FSRs. Peace of mind at a great price.

The WLORMA is asking all off road users to respect the areas and other users of the places they ride in.
Be sure to ask for permission for access to private property, be sure to close all range gates that you open, be respectful around cattle and horses, be aware that mountain bikers, hikers and horseback riders share the same areas as we do.
Remember, riding on Crown land is a privilege, not a right.
Be responsible and respectful to be a good ambassador for the sport so many love so much, dirtbiking.
