The Alberni Valley Bulldogs have traded Josh Adkins to the Cowichan Valley Capitals in the second part of a deal with the Capitals.
The Bulldogs last week acquired forward Rhett Willcox from the Caps and announced it was for ‘future considerations’. On Dec. 19 the team announced on its website that Adkins had also been included in the trade.
Adkins played with the Bulldogs for two and a half seasons and was the team’s third-leading scorer with 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points in 34 games.
Willcox is a “gritty two-way forward with 130 games of B.C. Hockey League experience” who previously played with Merritt Centennials, the Trail Smoke Eaters and the Capitals, according to the coaching staff.
He made his debut in a Bulldogs’ uniform against the Trail Smoke Eaters on Dec. 14.
The Capitals beat the Bulldogs at the Dog Pound 6–1 last Friday. The Dogs are off now until Dec. 30–31 when they head to Powell River for two games in two nights.
They return home Jan. 8 to play the Capitals.
The Capitals are in second place in the BCHL’s Island Division with 41 points, while the Bulldogs are in last place with 29 points (three behind the Victoria Grizzlies).
