The Port Hardy Warriors hosted a skill development clinic on June 3 for dragon boaters at the Quarterdeck Inn in Port Hardy.
“For new paddlers, it’s really about learning the basics of the stroke and how they can translate the movements to create more power,” said Coach Tom Arnold.
Arnold added “for the more experienced paddlers, it’s really about how to become more efficient and get even faster for their races.”
Arnold said the clinic is all about giving the athletes the skills to go and practice as a crew to increase their race results.
Arnold and Coach Andrea Keenan, who are members of Vancouver Island’s top dragon boating team the Gorging Dragons, took the dragon boaters out in Hardy Bay where they worked on more advanced drills and were critiqued on our technique on the erg.
The Warriors will be giving free rides on Canada Day, July 1, at the Seagate dock in Port Hardy from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Come out and enjoy a free ride!
