In Trail Retiree curling action Team Forrest Drinnan grabbed a share of top spot with a win over team Ernie Brown. Brown got out to a first end lead, but the team with hammer scored in every end. Tied coming home with hammer Drinnan kept the streak going and picked up two for the 7–5 win.
In a wild game Clare Coleman took four in the first end against team Pat Fennell. Fennell stormed back with nine in the next two ends. Down but not out Coleman fought back and took the lead in the seventh. Still with hammer, Fennell managed a single in eight to tie the game 10–10 and hold onto a share of the 4th Draw lead with Drinnan.
Team Tom Hall started well with two in the first end against team Jim Stewart. The Stewart side crept back into the game with singles in two, three, four and five, but it was a score of three in seven that sealed the win, running the Hall side out of rocks for a 7 – 3 victory.
Team Primo Secco jumped out to an early 4-0 lead over team Brett Rakuson. Rakuson scored three in the third to make it close, but gave up three in the fourth to deflate the team. With momentum on the Secco side they cruised to an 8–6 win.
When you are on the right side of the inch a well-played game by both sides can look lopsided. Just ask team Murray Walsh who faced team Harvey Handley. The Walsh side got the rolls behind cover while the Handley side rubbed guards. Make the final 9 – 4 for Walsh.
