After being shut-out in their first game of the season, BCS has now scored 14 goals in its last two contests with the 9-1 shellacking of the Builders making a statement that will be hard to ignore.
With only one Zamboni operator, the two teams in the Barn on Barlow decided that a clean sheet of ice wasn’t needed which proved to be in Blue Collars favour as they annihilated the porous Serenity defence after that.
Having huge games for BCS were (Rockin) Rod Albers with a goal and two assists as Chad (The Comet) Swanson was away to the races with a hat trick and two assists.
Also collecting a pair of helpers was the dynamic Defence duo of Jim (Great) Scott and (King) Richard Lindstrom. Not to be out done, Budd (Crash) Carter, Chris (Crown) Royle and Bruce (Is Loose) Broughton all scored their first of the season as Jason (Junior) Johnson’s first of two was the game winner.
Meanwhile back in the Builders barracks, Todd (The Body) Gryshuck continued his clean shaven start with his third goal and fifth point of the campaign.
The other game was the complete opposite of the fiasco next door as Bear and Fraser River fought for the lead like a Grizzly on a sockeye with the Bears prevailing 5-4.
The penalty-filled affair saw Fraser River bounce back to tie the game twice but they couldn’t net the equalizer with a man advantage late.
Bear was lead by Brody (Good) Neighbour who scored a pair and earned two assists despite feeling under the weather for the third game in a row.
Opening up the scoring for Bear with a howitzer from just inside the blue line which was also his 273 goal of a long and illustrious career was George (Ironman) Ryan who may have lost a step along the way but still knows how to put the biscuit in the basket.
Giving Bear two late leads was Ian (Heartbreaker) Hannah who was also robbed by Fraser Rivers Mike (Sean) Burke on a point blank chance.
Replying for the Chevy Crew was Kevin (Nightrider) Hesslegrave with a pair as Henry (Big) Boal and Colin (Master) Keis both collected two assists.
Scoring singletons in the losing cause were Glen (Gunner) Boudreau and Damion (Diablo) Shaughnessy who bounced one in from the point.
This week in Season 8 (2001) saw the line of George (Rowdy) Ryan score a hat trick and add 2 assists as Steve (Bone Crusher) Dodge collected four assists and a body check with (Slim) Jim Kurta scoring one and adding a pair of helpers in Blacks 8-5 feast over Gold.
