His teammate grabbed a podium spot, and William Dutton placed 26th in the men’s 1,000M speed skating event in Sochi Wednesday to end the competitive portion of his Olympic experience.
Dutton is a member of the family that owns Pheasant Glen Golf Resort in Qualicum Beach. On Wednesday, Dutton recorded a time of one minute, 10.61 seconds in the 1,000M to place 26th.
The gold medal was won by Stefan Groothuis of The Netherlands in 1:08.39. Canada’s Denny Morrison skated to a silver medal in 1:08.43 and Michael Mulder of The Netherlands won the bronze in 1:08.74. Dutton skated to 14th place in the 500M event earlier in the week. — NEWS Staff
