Brittni Wolczyk, who is training with the Dynamo Throws club in Maple Ridge for the summer, broke the Canadian junior javelin record last weekend at the Harry Jerome Meet in Vancouver with a toss of 53.67 meters.

The 18-year-old University of Nebraska freshman had a stellar first college season, finishing 11th at the NCAA track championships.

Last weekend’s throw ranked her in the Top 12 in the world junior rankings for javelin.

She will compete at the national junior championships in Edmonton next month, vying for a spot on the national team that will compete at the  world junior track championships in Poland .
