Eagles set to soar at provincials

Langley A4 peewee hockey team wins Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association

Twice the Langley A4 Eagles surrendered the first goal, but that didn’t deter the peewee hockey team.

“Both games we had a pretty quick answer,” said coach John Pettitt. “The kids just kept working hard and wore them down.”

The Eagles defeated North Shore Winter Club A4 8-3 and then scored four unanswered goals to beat Whistler A1 4-1 on Monday (March 6).

The teams were competing at the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association tier 4 Final Four championships hosted by Semiahmoo Minor Hockey at the Centennial Arena.

And with the two victories, Langley did not have to play their third game by virtue of already securing top spot.

With first place also comes a trip to Fernie for the B.C. peewee A4 provincial championships, which run March 18-24.

Pettitt said this was the goal at the season’s start.

“Early in the season we were trying to find ourselves and the kids really came together,” he said.

“They are just a very hard-working group and they play a solid, strong team game.

“We definitely have some key individuals, but our success is really due to playing as a team and working hard.”

The team is made up of Ethan Andre, Ryeley Bias, Ashton Boschmann, Carson Brown, Brayden Candy, Brady Chapman, Troy Edwards, Zachary Fausto, Cameron Furnell, Hayden Hall, Wyatt Lyon, Jake Newby, Brendan Pettitt, Nathan Prodanuk, Nathan Rosner, Nicholas Tudhope and Rylan Tutte.
