Even under blazing hot conditions, the European Football School, led by the ever-smiling Saibo Talic, was able to draw huge numbers to his five-day camp.
In total, 95 eager soccer players between the ages of eight and 18 laced up their boots to learn from the knowledgeable coaching staff of EFS.
“This is the most kids we have ever had sign up for an EFS camp and I think a lot of that is credit to the great work Saibo does,” said Kevin Harrison, Shuswap Youth Soccer executive director.
For five years Talic and his team of highly qualified coaches have been making the trip to Salmon Arm from the Lower Mainland. Talic said the first camp they hosted in town had 38 kids sign up.
“At this camp here, we have 95 kids and even three from northern B.C. and one from Calgary. It’s great to see the camp thrive here,” said Talic.
Talic remains on the lookout for top talent and loves to help foster the skill he sees.
“The camp has been a huge success, it has been a lot of fun and there has been some great skill on display,” said Talic. He said he hopes to select two players from the area to accompany the EFS select team to Europe in the spring.
