The Golden Rockets came together one last time for the team’s annual awards banquet after the most successful season in the team’s history.
“This is the tightest knit group of kids we have had in Golden. The guys look after each other and have been great supporters of each other, and that has been a great part of our success this year,” said team president Curt Thorne. ”This Rockets team was the best team we had in 21 years.”
Thorne also took time to thank the volunteers, billet families, parents of the players, clowns, the media team and the players and coaches who helped this year.
Rockets head coach Ty Davidson, who has been involved with hockey for 33 years as both a player and coach, explained what the season meant for him.
“I have been on a hockey team since I was five and this has been my favourite team I have ever been a part of. This group of individuals were fabulous and I could not wait to get to the arena everyday.”
