Can you imagine being a kid again and watching all your friends ride their bikes around the neighbourhood while you sit on the curb?
Watching your friends ride off into the trails while you stay put in your yard? Have them all come back from an adventure to tell you all about it, but you only get to live it through the stories?
Every kid wants a bike. It’s their freedom, their ability to explore outside the street they live on and just a huge part of growing up.
For most of us, Its hard to imagine being a kid and not having a bike, but this is a reality for many.
It’s that time of year again when Swicked Cycles collects as many bikes as possible and tunes them up, replaces damaged parts and gets ‘em all shined up to go under Christmas trees. It saddens us to see so many children without bikes, but we can make a huge difference right here in Campbell River. We truly believe every kid does deserve a bike and with your help we can get more kids pedalling.
You, as a community, have been a huge part in getting over 150 bikes under Christmas trees over the last five seasons with more and more bikes each year. So please, if you have any previously loved bikes you are willing to part with, bring them by Swicked Cycles before Dec. 4.
We will do the rest and make sure they go to deserving kids this Christmas.
If you want to be involved but don’t have any bikes to part with, we are also accepting donations this year to purchase a couple of new bikes for these deserving kids.
