Ewart earns Bantam title

A.J. Ewart of Coquitlam fired identical rounds of 2-under-par 68 to claim the B.C. Bantam Boys Golf Championship Friday at Nico-wynd Golf Club in South Surrey.

Ewart, who began Friday tied for second place, finished at 4-under 136.

Henry Lee, another Coquitlam product,  carded rounds of 72-67 (139) to finish in a three-way tie with Vancouver’s Sy Lovan  (68-71-139) and Burnaby’s Alex Francois (67-72-139).

Travis Jackson, a member of the Spallumcheen Golf & Country Club, fired rounds of 85-86 (171) to end up in 23rd place at 31-over.

Spall’s Michael LeNoury finished tied for 24th at 34-over after carding rounds of 85-89 (174).

In the Bantam girls championship, it was Victoria’s Naomi Ko taking first overall in South Surrey with rounds of 70 and 71 to finish with a 1-over 141.

A total of 30 boys competed in the tourney.

Coquitlam’s Shania Remandaban was 11 strokes back (76-76-152) to take second place, followed by Nanaimo’s Shirin Anjarwalla (75-78-153) in third in a field of 12.
