Ex-West Kelowna Warriors’ captain Max French is Texas bound.
The 24-year-old West Kelowna native has signed a contract with the Texas Stars, the American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars.
French spent five seasons with the Warriors, from 2009 through 2013, scoring 67 goals and 149 points in 193 regular season games with 238 penalty minutes.
In the playoffs, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound forward added 11 goals and 16 points in 31 postseason contests.
French went on to a successful four-year collegiate career at Bentley University, the same school that former Warriors Jonathan Desbiens and Nicholas Rutigliano are currently attending.
French captained the Falcons this past season, his senior year at Bentley, and led the team in scoring.
Over the course of his four-year NCAA career, French played in 138 games, scoring 67 times and adding 76 assists for 143 points, while collecting 192 penalty minutes.
The former Warrior captain signed amateur try-out with the Utica Comets, affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, after his senior year of college but did not get into any game action.
