Club Shuswap will be holding a grand opening of the new pickle ball courts from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13 and the public is encouraged to attend. Mayor Nancy Cooper will cut the ribbon at 6:30 p.m. There will be free play, free instruction and free racquet use. At 7 p.m. there will be a barbecue.
Pickle ball is a combination of tennis, badminton and ping pong.
Whitecaps
From Aug. 12 to 16 the high calibre Whitecaps soccer camp for young people takes place in Salmon Arm. For more information, go to shuswapsoccer.com.
The Shuswap Youth Soccer Association is also offering Street Soccer, with registration opening Aug. 12. The six-week program starting Sept. 10 for boys and girls born in 1996 to 2006 is for fun – games only. Register online.
Seniors open
The Highlands Senior Open is set for Aug. 26 at Shuswap Lake Estates. This is a two-man team event with three flights maximum and a 10-point handicap difference. This will be an opportunity to play the course, which is in excellent condition, enjoy a meal and perhaps win a prize. Enter by phoning 250-675-2315.
