Express derail Vees in Coquitlam

Cody DePourcq pots his 10th goal in losing cause against the Express

Looking for back-to-back wins, the Coquitlam Express put that to an end for the Penticton Vees with a 3-1 win at the Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex.

Express captain Ryan Rosenthal scored both Coquitlam goals in the third period, including the game-winner early on a man-advantage. During Coquitlam’s third power-play, the puck was given to Rosenthal in the left-circle and he snapped a shot along the ice past Olivier Mantha at 5:43. Rosenthal’s second goal was scored into an empty net.

The Vees opened the scoring on a goal from Cody DePourcq. After winning a faceoff in the Express zone, Brendan Lamont fired a pass from the corner across to an awaiting DePourcq at the post, who tipped-in his 10th at 16:48. DePourcq extended his point-streak to four games in the process.

Mantha finished the game with 18 saves, while Gordie Defiel made 24 saves for the win.

The Vees will get their chance at redemption against the Express, as they host the Coquitlam team in the South Okanagan Events Centre Saturday night at 6 p.m.
