Falcons close out season in Cowlitz

Kelowna's playoff hopes end Sunday night with a loss in Walla Walla

The Kelowna Falcons will close out their West Coast League season Monday night in Cowlitz against the Black Bears.

The club’s West Coast League playoff hopes came to an official end Sunday night with a 7-3 loss to the Sweets in Walla Walla.

The Falcons (28-25) will finish third in the East Division, with Wenatchee and Bellingham clamining the top two spots.

The Sweets scored first in the bottom of the third, before the Falcons would tie it in the top of the fourth. A two-out bases loaded single by Tucker Alexander to score Tyler Qualls tied it at one.

In the bottom of the fifth the Sweets took the lead for good, scoring two runs of Marris.  Ben Ruff doubled in a run, while Alex Bonczyk had an RBI single.

The Falcons bullpen gave up three more runs in the bottom of the seventh, putting the lead out of reach.

In the top of the ninth the Falcons added two more, but it would be too little too late.

Brandon Marris was hit with his third consecutive loss and will finish the season 7-3, as Sweets starter J.J. Robison recorded the win.
